• When discussing the mixed result of the Jackson Pollock studio NFTs on NiftyNoon last week, I wrote that “the future to onboarding the traditional art world likely comes, not from traditional artists, but rather from digital native artists.” The success of generative art pioneer Vera Molnár NFT collection further solidifies that point. Minting in collaboration with Sotheby’s at 1.1 ETH earlier this week, the collection soared to a 7 ETH floor price before settling into the 5 ETH range. The contrast in interest between Pollock and Molnár NFTs is striking.

• There are certainly nuances to the comparison (Pollock’s work being editions with a cumulatively higher supply). However, the difference in secondary market demand and online discussion is undeniable: people appreciate Molnár’s work in the context it was designed to be consumed in. Molnár is a digital art pioneer; it is only fitting her work is being celebrated digitally.
