Blur season 2 is finally ending… but is that a good thing? (October 11, 2023)

Nifty Thought

• The end of Blur season 2 is finally upon us with the team teasing that the second airdrop will come on November 20th. While I was excited for the first airdrop as a liquidity event for the space, I am less optimistic about the second airdrop. Price action for the BLUR token is likely to be very negative with many farmers down significantly on their investments. With this in mind, the size of this airdrop is likely to be smaller. At the same time, the likelihood that liquidity from the airdrop will flow into NFTs seems increasingly small.

• Therefore, the net outcome of the Blur airdrop will likely just be the full exit of Blur farmers (and their liquidity) from the NFT ecosystem entirely. A season 3 is unlikely to entice farmers given how bad things have been for the season 2 participants. Choppy waters are likely to be ahead.
