PROOF Collective releases collector profiles, custom on-chain Moonbird backgrounds, and much more (November 29, 2022)

Nifty Thought

• After raising tens of millions of dollars through venture fundraises and NFT mints, PROOF Collective has been aggressively building throughout the bear market. Project Highrise, the codename for PROOF’s social NFT gallery project, has been slowly manifesting through gradual product iterations the team has shipped over the past few months. So far this has culminated into their PROOF Collector Profiles. These small features may provide insight into PROOF’s long term ambitions with social-first art galleries.

• Perhaps the most interesting feature PROOF has shipped lately is custom on-chain Moonbirds backgrounds using PROOF Collective passes. While custom NFT backgrounds have not seen much experimentation so far, they seem to be a logical fit for PROOF. Custom on-chain backgrounds could allow their art collectors to verifiably signal ownership of certain crypto-art. For example, popular art NFTs such as Chromie Squiggles and Fidenzas are not always the best options for people seeking distinct profile pictures. This inability to social signal art is likely what has led to people valuing profile pictures more highly as they seek this flex appeal. On-chain art backgrounds for Moonbirds solves this problem as people are able to verifiably signal their ownership of art through a profile picture that still looks distinctive. This would also be an opportunity for PROOF to tie Moonbirds in with their more art-driven projects such as Grails, Curated, X, and Genesis.
