OpenSea introduces new 3-hour hold period in an effort to combat NFT thieves (February 3, 2023)

Nifty Thought

• OpenSea’s solution to thieves dumping flagged NFTs to WETH offers is compelling but imperfect. While this helps prevent people with open collections offers from being punished, it does not stop thieves from undercutting the floor aggressively as a greedy buyer purchases the stolen asset before it can be flagged. In the end, this is largely a benefit to people that use offers and collection offers on OpenSea but it is unfortunately unlikely to be effective in actually stopping thieves on the platform.
