• Magic Eden continues to lose market share in Solana and has evidently been working hard to slow its decline. Much of this market share loss has been at the hands of Solana marketplaces that do not honor creator royalties and therefore offer better terms for NFT buyers and sellers at the expense of NFT creators and artists. While Magic Eden initially strongly defended creator royalties, it seems they have backtracked on this issue.

• There are many rumors that Magic Eden pressured DeGods to lower their royalties to 0% as they have limited the royalties for projects using their launchpad recently. This partnership with Coral Cube, a service that does not require creator royalties, seems to be an acceleration of this trend. As the royalty debate began with Solana weeks before it began with Ethereum, it is possible a similar shift may happen in the near future with OpenSea and force their hand to also consider royalty optional partners.
