After a tumultuous 2022, Pixel Vault is back with a flurry of new announcements (August 9, 2023)

• PixelVault, known for its products such as the PUNKS comic and its MetaHero universe has made a series of exciting announcements. While the project was once heralded as one of the great projects early in NFT bull market, it quickly lost relevance particularly following the departure of its controversial founder Beanie. Nonetheless, yesterday the project announced it is going to be consolidating its ecosystem into the $GG token and acquire the popular WolfGame play-to-earn game.

• The consolidation of its ecosystem can be strictly positive for the space so long as the design is thoughtful for holders. Convoluted ecosystems typically result in a bad user experience. The acquisition of WolfGame is particularly interesting as the PixelVault also teased gameplay for its BattlePlan! game. Although the graphics for both of these games are nothing extraordinary, they do contain gameplay that a mass audience may find appealing. It is gameplay, not visual fidelity, that creates blockbuster video games.

• Ultimately, this is exciting news for an NFT project that has the attention and capital to meaningfully push the space forward. While PixelVault might not be fully back yet, they are certainly taking steps in the right direction.
