The success of the DeGods cross-chain migration has paved the way for other projects to follow (April 28, 2023)

• The cross-chain revolution has interesting implications for NFTs. While sentiment on Solana has been highly volatile over the past year, DeGods has managed to move beyond the chain it has minted on and find a new home on Ethereum. While this has clear implications for projects also considering making the jump from Ethereum, it also opens up interesting possibilities for the future. Many people expect the next wave of crypto to come on the backs of layer 2s built on top of Ethereum.

• This could open up the possibility for projects currently on Ethereum to eventually migrate to layer 2s in the future. This is particularly relevant if future crypto activity ends up being consolidated across these layer 2s. Furthermore, this opens up the possibility for NFTs to move across different chains and layer 2s in the future, giving them the adaptability and portability that arguably makes them even more decentralized. It will be interesting to explore how projects such as DeGods and Pudgy Penguins adapt this concept moving forward.
