After intense competition for the past few weeks, the leaderboard for Dookey Dash's skill-based mint is now crowded with esports professionals (January 30, 2023)

Nifty Thought

• In theory, the Dookey Dash skill-based mint makes perfect sense. Rather than distribute rarity randomly, tying it to something holders can control seems like a system that is both rewarding and engaging. From the perspective of engagement, this mint has been perfectly successful. Dookey Dash has dominated NFT Twitter and captured the entire NFT community’s attention since it launched. However, it likely will not end up rewarding skilled holders. Rather, the top of the leaderboard is seemingly dominated by professional Fortnite players that have been commandeered by NFT whales to play on their behalf. For future skill-based mints to be successful, this shadow-playing must be stopped to keep the leaderboard fair and actually reflective of the community.
