Mr. Beast is introducing his audience to the world of digital collectibles. His creator league passes are going to be NFTs that can be purchased through a simple fiat on-ramp and a clean user interface. While this is poised to likely be one of the most successful crypto products of all time, it also reveals a lot about what the future success of digital collectibles means for the future of NFTs as we know them. Major influencers such as Mr. Beast can onboard millions of new NFT buyers into the ecosystem without a single dollar of additional liquidity flowing to existing NFT projects. In fact, the clean user experience elements necessary for projects to win with mainstream consumers (i.e. fiat on-ramp and non-custodial wallets by default) are the same elements preventing additional liquidity from flowing into the existing NFT ecosystem.
Furthermore, CDawgVA’s strong stance against Creator League by virtue of its association with the crypto is alarming. It is clear that many people, even young digital-native consumers, inherently view the entire space as supremely negative. They wish to have nothing to do with blockchain products. This is a negative stigma that must be shaken off gradually with demonstrated use cases in order for crypto to succeed in the long run.
