Blur retaliates against OpenSea's new royalty optional model (February 22, 2023)

• The battle between OpenSea and Blur rages on. While OpenSea has now matched Blur’s fee structure (both for marketplace and creator royalties), Blur has now created a financial incentive to discourage people from listing on OpenSea. Their previous bidding incentive already encourages people to exclusively buy on Blur. With both the buy side and the sell side moving off OpenSea, it will be difficult for the platform to compete. Historically, NFT platforms with the most liquidity have won out regardless of external factors and it seems that the allure of a $blur airdrop has been enough to take a substantial amount of liquidity away from OpenSea. At this point, they may need to retaliate with an incentive on their own.
