NiftyNoon: Blur-Mania Overshadows Bored Ape Yacht Club and Yuga Labs

While Yuga Labs typically dominates headlines, Blur's recent airdrop has persisted as the center of attention (February 16, 2023)

Nifty Thought

• Blur’s impact on the market is still being felt throughout the entire NFT market. While bids and floor prices have experienced a healthy pullback across the board, the market is certainly in a much stronger position than it was a week ago. With that being said, it seems some of this strength is artificially enhanced with people attempting to farm Blur with bids for the season 2 airdrop. Most projects without Blur bidding enabled did not see an immediate price benefit following the conclusion of Blur season 1, including the highly popular Jack Butcher Checks project. However, once bidding was turned on for Checks, the floor price began to skyrocket. With many new high-profile projects, such as the Sewer Pass from Yuga Labs, turning off Blur bidding, it seems like the price benefits will flow to older projects for the foreseeable future. It will be interesting to see if other projects follow Jack Butcher and enable Blur bids for their collections in the future.
