Horizen Labs restricts US IP addresses from accessing their ape staking website (November 24, 2022)

• The future of Bored Ape Yacht Club’s token-gated staking pools is very important for the greater NFT space. It is highly troublesome that Horizen Labs, the company developing the staking contract and user interface, has decided to block the website from being accessed in the United States in Canada. While it is likely people in banned countries can still access staking by interacting directly with the smart contract, some people feel that this is shifting liability away from Horizen Labs and to them individually. Of course, this is all under the backdrop of the SEC’s probe into Yuga Labs. Although the end-game outcome for this is not yet clear, the ramifications will be massive as projects such as Moonbirds and Gutter Cat Gang wait in the wings with their own potential ERC20 tokens.
