The long anticipated Arbitrum Airdrop is coming March 23. (March 17, 2023)

Nifty Thought

• Arbitrum has finally announced its token. After months of speculation, airdrop hunters and users have received clarity on their airdrop amount. As it so often is the case, the community is very divided on how the token has been distributed. Many feel they have been treated unfairly. Regardless of sentiment, the empirical fact remains apparent; this distribution enabled whales and shrimps alike a good chance to receive a sizable airdrop. Now that protocols will be able to incentivize users with $ARB, the real layer 2 wars begin. Given how much traction Arbitrum had without a token, it may be difficult for Optimism to keep up in the long term.

• Furthermore, although this airdrop is more crypto-specific rather than NFT-specific, it is very likely that a portion of airdrop receivers are also active in the NFT space. This injection of new liquidity may propel the market during an otherwise negative time in the market. This new liquidity is most likely to flow into collections that appeal to crypto natives such as CryptoPunks, Pudgy Penguins, and Azuki.
