NiftyNoon: Can Bored Ape Yacht Club and Otherside Save NFTs?

As NFTs continue their slow bleed down, only Yuga Labs seems positioned to meaningfully grow the market (April 3, 2023)

Nifty Thought

• Active time readers of NiftyNoon will know that the NFT space has not had a good few months. As the market continues to slowly lose market participants, many have turned to Yuga Labs, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and Otherside in hoping that they can bring in gamers that serve as the next wave of NFT participants. While this is certainly not impossible, particularly with the recent team additions Yuga Labs has made, the future of the space should not hinge upon the success of Otherside.

• Creating any new startup is difficult but gaming startups have a particularly low probability of success. While gaming NFTs may succeed, the long run of NFTs will likely be anchored by digital art and collectibles, which can only remain verifiably scarce through NFTs as a technology platform. Therefore, it may be interesting to simultaneously keep companies such as Art Blocks and Americana in mind simultaneously while tracking companies such as Yuga Labs and Chiru Labs.

• Dissapointment from early adopters as Blur extends bidding and listing points for Season 2:
